Provo Mayor John Curtis probable winner of GOP race for Rep. Jason Chaffetz’s seat

PROVO, Utah, Aug. 15, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Some mail-in ballots have yet to be tallied, but as of Tuesday evening, Provo Mayor John Curtis had a strong lead in the race to fill the House of Representatives position left open by Jason Chaffetz’s departure.

As of 9 p.m. Tuesday, the U.S. Representative District 3 vote stood at 42.17 percent for Curtis, 30.37 percent for Christopher Herrod, and 27.35 percent for Tanner Ainge.

That worked out to 18,768 votes for Curtis, 13,562 for Herrod and 12,180 for Ainge. Thousands more votes remain to be counted.

Ainge conceded at about 9 p.m. via Twitter, congratulating Curtis as the winner.
