VERNAL, Utah, May 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Transportation has opened one lane of U.S. 191 just north of Vernal after a road closure over the weekend.

Both lanes of U.S. 191 about eight miles north of Vernal at mile post 364 closed Saturday evening at approximately 11 p.m. after water spilled over the roadway, according to the Uintah Basin Communications Facebook page. A culvert was not draining water properly beneath the road, according to the Facebook page.

A follow-up post Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. said one lane of alternating traffic was opened for local traffic, only.

Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m., officials posted the road is now open but still reduced to one open lane with alternating traffic. It will be reduced to one lane until at least 6:30 p.m. Monday evening. Motorists are advised to use caution and expect delays in the area.

Gephardt Daily will provide updates Monday as information becomes available.
