SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, March 5, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A rollover crash has closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 for more than an hour Monday night.

The rollover happened shortly before 9:20 p.m. at the Interstate 215 split, on the east side, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce told Gephardt Daily.

“It was a single-vehicle rollover. The driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries,” Royce said.

A secondary crash occurred when traffic slowed because of the rollover and another vehicle rear-ended a semi.

Royce said the driver of that vehicle also was transported with very minor injuries.

“It’s a problem area because of black ice,” he said.

The lanes were closed and drivers have been asked to use an alternative route, while officials wait for the Utah Department of Transportation plow to come and clear the ice.
