Salad Bar Added To The Menu At Salt Lake City Elementary Schools

Menu At Salt Lake City Elementary Schools

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 17, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — There will be a lot more healthy choices for kids to make in Salt Lake City elementary school cafeterias as portable salad bars are installed.

The Salt Lake District will pull plastic cups full of veggies and fruits off the menu and replace them with the salad bars.

All public schools are required by the federal government to offer kids vegetables and fruits for lunch. Nutrition workers in the Salt Lake City elementary schools believe the salad bars will add variety while reducing waste.

School officials say the self-chilled and portable salad bars are easy to install and maintain, and so far, kids seem to like them.
