SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 18, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City Police were at the scene of a stabbing overnight Friday at 700 North and Riverside Drive.

SLCPD Lt. Gary Trost said two male juveniles were involved in an altercation with a group of 12 to 14 other people.

One of the two boys was stabbed and the other was beaten.

“The victims called (911) for help, and the other group took off,” Trost said. The call came in to police at 11:35 p.m.

The youth who was stabbed was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The one who was assaulted did not require hospitalization.

No information was immediately available regarding the ages or gender of the individuals who ran away, and no one was taken into custody.

Trost said detectives had no information indicating the incident was gang-related, but they will be looking into that possibility as part of their investigation.
