SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Sandy man is behind bars after police investigators allegedly found him in possession of 375 computer files depicting child pornography.

Benjamin Rodney Berrett, 39, faces 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, and has been booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail, officials said.

The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Utah Attorney General’s Office and the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

According to a probable cause statement, Berrett used a peer-to-peer network to share a child pornography file with a law enforcement officer on Feb. 18.

Crews with the Utah ICAC Task Force were able to track the file to Berrett’s computer, and a search warrant was executed on April 2, the statement said.

Investigators say a total of 375 files of child pornography were found on Berrett’s computer. They contained graphic images of girls as young as 2.

The probable cause statement said that after being read his Miranda rights, Berrett admitted to using peer-to-peer networks to download child pornography.

The Utah Attorney General’s Office has requested Berrett’s bail be set at $100,000.
