TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, Jan. 2, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A suspect in the Dec. 10 homicide of West Valley City resident Toussaint Tyler has been taken into custody in Palm Springs, California.
“Much appreciation to Palm Springs Police for the capture of wanted homicide suspect Shawn Eugene Fleming,” says a tweet from the Unified Police Department.
The tweet also shares a photo of 36-year-old Fleming, shirtless and handcuffed, looking out from the back of a police cruiser.
Tyler, 30, was shot inside a ground floor unit at the Fairstone at Riverview Apartments, 742 W. Sunny River Road (4330 South).
Detectives reviewed surveillance video showing the suspects outside of the apartment.
UPD stated that a female suspect knocked on the door while two male suspects waited around the corner.
Once the door was opened, the two male suspects forced their way inside. The female did not enter the apartment.
At some point, one of the suspects shot the victim, then both fled with the female and ran east, police said.
The female suspect, Tonita Vainay Rico, also known as Tonita Espinoza, was later taken into custody.
The other man has yet to be identified and remains at large.
