SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 27, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake police responded to multiple reports of shots fired in a Glendale neighborhood early Monday morning.

Lt. Scott Smalley with the Salt Lake City Police said the department received several calls from neighbors in the area of 1335 W. 600 South saying they had heard gunshots in the area at approximately 5:30 a.m.

“They had seen several people in vehicles leaving, however we weren’t able to get really a description,” Smalley said. “It was too dark for them to really see who was leaving or the vehicles.”

He added that officers found some live rounds in the road, but no gun. Police did not immediately find any victims or suspects.

“This house has had some recent issues with gang activity and some other things as well that we’re trying to track down,” Smalley said.

Local hospitals have been notified and asked to contact police if a victim with a gunshot wound comes in.

“We are casing the neighborhood trying to track down any other potential witnesses to the event,” Smalley said. “We’ll probably be in contact with the homeowner since this is a rental, to see if we can a little bit more information from them that could possibly help us track down who was maybe involved.”

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
