SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Dec. 5, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams has announced the departure of Deputy Mayor Lori Bays at the start of the new year.

Bays, whose resignation is effective Jan. 1, has held the position since Sept. 2015, according to a statement from the Mayor’s office.

McAdams said that she submitted her resignation Nov. 30 in order to pursue opportunities outside the county. Bays said that with the mayor’s first term in office drawing to a close, it was the right opportunity for her to return to a role where she can more directly partner with individuals and organizations in the community.

“I appreciate the service that Lori has provided to the citizens of Salt Lake County, both as deputy mayor and as the director of the Department of Human Services before that,” said McAdams in a prepared statement.

“She cares deeply about the well-being of residents here and has made significant contributions to a safer, healthier, more prosperous future for everyone in this valley. I wish her well in her future endeavors.”

Bays also released a statement:

“I want to thank Mayor McAdams for giving me the opportunity to serve the residents of our community,” she said. “I have enjoyed my time at the county and I look forward to working with community partners and fellow residents to help all members of our community have opportunities to live healthy, successful lives.”

McAdams said he will be making announcements in the near future about an executive team reorganization in his office.
