SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 22, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police said Thursday afternoon a suspect has been arrested after they urged residents of Sugar House and Liberty Wells to be on the lookout for suspicious activity following reports of 27 burglaries in 20 days in the area.

Salt Lake City Police Department tweeted that six of the burglaries occurred Tuesday, mostly in the area just south of Liberty Park, while the rest occurred earlier this month.

The burglaries occurred primarily on weekdays between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., at homes and apartments, the tweet said.

The suspect usually entered the residence either by breaking a back window, kicking in a door or using a doggy door. Police added in the tweet “the presence of dogs in the homes does not appear to deter the suspect. Several homes with dogs present have been burglarized.”

Thursday afternoon, the SLCPD tweeted: “Burglary suspect apprehended. If you live in this area please check your homes and outbuildings for missing property and report it to police.”

Anyone with information about the suspect or the burglaries is asked to call the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-INFO (4636).
