SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, March 26, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Fire crews battled a fully engulfed home in South Jordan Sunday afternoon.

Tina Brown, spokeswoman for the City of South Jordan, said the report of the fire in the area of 11720 S. Harvest Moon Ct. (4030 West) was called in by neighbors at approximately 2:15 p.m. The fire appeared to start in the garage.

“When we arrived, our firefighters witnessed heavy smoke in the garage,” Brown said. “No-one was home at the time of the fire, however there were two dogs inside, both of which were rescued. One dog was given some oxygen and an IV.”

She said firefighters made their way into the home, and were in the home about ten minutes when the ceiling collapsed, at which point they pulled back and continued to fight the fire from outside. There were no injuries to firefighters.

The homeowner has been reunited with the two dogs.

In total, 33 firefighters battled the blaze, with crews from West Jordan and Unified Fire joining South Jordan.

Officials said there is significant damage to the home and the owners are being assisted by the Utah Red Cross.
