Stolen vehicles involved in violent State Street crash

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Aug. 13, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) —A man driving a stolen truck ran a red light Saturday morning, causing an accident that involved a motorcycle and three additional vehicles, one of them also stolen.

Crews from the South Salt Lake Police Department and other agencies responded to an accident that occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday at 3900 S. State St., South Salt Lake.

According to reports, a person traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed in a stolen truck ran the light and T-boned a BMW that was making a left turn. The BMW was pushed into a Subaru and a motorcycle waiting at the intersection.

The Subaru was a stolen vehicle, and the driver fled the scene on foot. There is no indication the two stolen vehicles were connected, according to reports.

The driver of the stolen truck was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to reports. The driver of the BMW was treated for serious injuries, and the motorcyclist had significant injuries.
