ST. GEORGE, Utah, April 8, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials said a lightning strike most likely started a fire that caused $350,000 in damages to a St. George home early Sunday morning.

St. George Fire officials said crews were called to the area of 2000 Rivers Edge Lane just after 4:40 a.m., and the fire was fully involved by the time crews arrived.

There was no one home at the time of the fire, officials said. The house is used as a second residence.

It took about two hours to extinguish the blaze, which began in the attic.

Officials believe the fire was caused by a lighting strike, during a large storm in St. George overnight, though that has not been confirmed unequivocally.
