St. George police make murder arrest after ‘suspicious death’

ST. GEORGE, Utah, June 23, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man has been booked into jail on murder charges after a suspicious death reported Friday in St. George.

Victor Manuel Hernandez was arrested at about 7 a.m. Saturday in connection with the case, according to information from the St. George Police Department.

The investigation and arrest came after police were informed of an altercation in the area of the 2000 block of 1575 North in St. George.

“Officers were contacted by citizens who received information that an altercation had occurred at the location during the night,” a Friday statement from the St. George Police Department says.

“Citizens reported that they believe a subject may have been killed at the location. The persons also provided officers with the name and location of the suspect.”

Detectives responded to the scene to investigate, and to interview the person of interest.

“We do not believe that any other persons are involved at this time and there is no danger to the public,” the SGPD statement says.

No further information is available in the case, including the name of the deceased. According to reports, the St. George Police Department plans to release additional information on Monday.

Hernandez is being held on a $250,000 bond.
