Police arrest pair who allegedly robbed 7-Eleven, punched clerk in face

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 7, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man and a woman were arrested Tuesday morning after police said the two robbed a 7-Eleven and punched a clerk in the face.

A news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department said officials booked Michael Trainer, 28, into jail for robbery, and Jayme Mares, 34, for retail theft, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m. when the pair entered the 7-Eleven at 111 W. 800 South and concealed merchandise, the news release states. A clerk confronted the two and was punched in the face.

The two suspects then fled the store and got onto a nearby TRAX train. Officers observed the suspects exit the train nearby and took them into custody.
