WEBER COUNTY, Utah, March 14, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Who knows what lurks in the deep, dark waters of Pineview Reservoir?

According to a Facebook post from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, deputies got a surprise Friday, March 10, when they responded to a call about a strange object that burst through the ice in Pineview.

Upon arrival, deputies found a car sticking up through the frozen surface.

“Deputies had to put a rope team together and venture out on the ice to check the car,” the Facebook post says.

They learned that the vehicle was stolen out of West Valley City and must have been dumped into Pineview sometime in the fall, before the reservoir froze over.

As the Facebook post concludes:

“For some unknown reason, the car was able to surface from the bottom of the dam with enough force that it broke through the ice. Deputies routinely see strange things on patrol, but even this one stood out as unusual.”
