Suspect arrested in ‘Barrel-Chested Bandit’ case

TUCSON, Ariz., Feb. 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Federal Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday arrested Anthony James Lane, 50, who is believed to be the “Barrel Chested Bandit,” wanted in 11 bank robberies in the past seven months in Utah, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.

Lane was arrested without incident, in Tucson, by FBI agents from Phoenix FBI’s Tucson Resident Agency and with assistance from the Tucson Police Department.

In a prepared statement, the FBI thanked the Tucson Police Department, which worked the case jointly with the FBI and law enforcement partners in Utah, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado.

The suspect has been charged, but is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
