GREEN RIVER, Wyoming, March 14, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 1-year-old girl and her great-grandmother were killed Friday morning when a man police said was driving under the influence slammed into the family’s living room in Green River, Wyo.

Debra Devries, 62, and her great-granddaughter Stella Doak died after a man crashed his SUV into the family’s home at 695 Evers St.

A 2005 Mazda SUV, allegedly driven by George Maestas, 68, drove into the living room of the residence after leaving the intersection of Evers Street and Monroe Avenue.

Devries and Stella were both transported to the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, along with the three other adult family members that were in the home.

Devries died from her injuries later that day. Stella was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, where she passed away Saturday, two days after her first birthday. Stella was a candidate for organ donation, and her kidneys and heart valve were donated.

One of the other adults involved in the crash remains hospitalized, and the other two have been released.

Maestas, who sustained only minor injuries, faces two counts of aggravated homicide by vehicle and one count of driving under the influence of a controlled substance causing bodily injury.

He is being held in the Sweetwater County Detention Center on a $1 million cash-only bond.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by a representative for the Doak family to cover medical expenses.

The GoFundMe page, which has raised $16,380 of a $100,000 goal Tuesday at 9 a.m., says: “On March 10, 2017 our family received news of a tragic accident. A car drove through a family member’s home in Green River, Wyoming. Debra Devries was called to return home to her father in heaven, and multiple family members were injured.”

A statement was later added from Stella’s mom Sami: “Our baby mini queen has passed on. She fought so hard, she is so strong. She is able to help save another baby’s life, we are so proud of her. We love her so much. She is with grandma great and grandpa Samuel. We love you Stella.”

An account has also been set up at Wyochem Federal Credit Union in Green River for those who would like to donate directly.
