The Leonardo Opens New Exhibition SPARK! Ignite Creativity

sparkSALT LAKE CITY, UT – APRIL 14, 2015 The Leonardo has opened its latest original exhibition, SPARK!: Ignite Creativity.

Developed in partnership with local artists and drawing from thousands of submissions from the Utah PTA’s annual Reflections competition, this interactive collective features over 700 pieces of original 2D and 3D art, original writings, music, multimedia works, live performances and more and fills nearly 10,000 square feet of space.

spark2SPARK! also features Dallas Graham’s interactive art installation, It is Possible, works by other local artists, films by Spyhop members and more. The interactive components of the exhibition ask visitors to answer the question “What will you make possible?” by creating their own works of art.

Alexandra Hesse, executive director of The Leonardo said: “ One of the most rewarding aspects of developing SPARK! Ignite Creativity was the opportunity to build community, which is one of The Leonardo’s guiding principles. This year’s Reflections competition asked young people (K-12) to creatively demonstrate how they would make the world a better place. The beautiful music, spark3visual art, dance, film, writing and 3D art works that were produced inspires us to ask and answer a similar question, ‘what can we make possible?’

She continued, “Giving our visitors an opportunity to contribute their own creative energies around such a fundamental question fulfills our mission to provide experiences that inspire creativity and innovation amongst people of all ages.”

In addition to the exhibition, The Leonardo will host a series of themed hands-on activities and workshops throughout the spring and summer months.

Located in the heart of Salt Lake City, The Leonardo is Utah’s center for exploration. Here visitors of all ages can exercise their curiosity, their creativity and experience one-of-a-kind, interactive exhibits and an ongoing calendar of public programs, workshops and classes.
