Traffic snarled on I-15 northbound at 700 South after semi catches fire

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 22, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Drivers are being advised to avoid northbound Interstate 15 at 700 South in Salt Lake City after a semi-truck caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

The right lanes are blocked at milepost 307 and traffic is backed to the 2100 South interchange, the Utah Department of Transportation tweeted just before 2:30 p.m.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area or plan for delays, the tweet added.

It’s not yet clear if anyone was injured as a result of the fire.

Officials have not said what caused the blaze.

The estimated clearance time is 3:30 p.m., UDOT said.
