Truck Driver Fatally Injured In Cache County Tanker Rollover

AMALGA, Utah, May 29, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A tanker driver died Sunday afternoon when the semi he was driving rolled down an embankment near Amalga in Cache County.

The Utah Highway Patrol was called to the scene of an accident at 10:37 a.m. on westbound SR-218 near milepost 4 just outside of Amalga, west of Smithfield.

When troopers arrived, they found a tanker that had drifted off the road to the right side and rolled down and embankment. The driver, identified as Salvador Lemus-Tellez, 57, of Kimberly, Idaho, was found deceased inside the cab of the truck.

Troopers said the tanker appeared to be loaded with an agricultural product, possibly whey.

The accident is still under investigation and the cause of the accident is still not known.
