SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, Nov. 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Two children were injured, one of them critically, after being hit by a truck in South Jordan Tuesday afternoon.

South Jordan Police Department officials said that at about 5 p.m., three children were attempting to cross the road in a crosswalk at 5510 West and 11800 South. They had the green light to cross.

A truck driving north on 5510 West proceeded through the intersection, and not seeing the children, hit two of them.

A 7-year-old girl was airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital in critical condition. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. An 8-year-old boy was treated for minor injuries. The third child was not injured.

The 61-year-old driver of the truck remained at the scene and was given a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian.

Officials said the driver did not show any obvious signs of impairment.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
