SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 31, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Transportation has reopened several ramps at the Interstate 80/Foothill Drive interchange in time for the first University of Utah home football game, and two weeks ahead of schedule, officials said Thursday.

The I-80 eastbound exit at Foothill Drive, along with the ramp from Foothill Drive to southbound I-215, has been closed for several months so crews could completed maintenance and reconstruction work on several bridges, such as removing and replacing the bridge deck; or driving surface, patching potholes, repairing bridge walls, and repainting beams to prevent corrosion, the news release said.

This work extends the useful life of the bridges and makes the pavement smoother for drivers, the UDOT statement said.

In addition, the I-15 on- and off-ramps at 900 South near downtown Salt Lake City, are scheduled to reopen by Tuesday morning, Sept. 5, in time for the morning commute. The exit has been closed since late July so crews could repave the ramp and reconstruct the bridge over 300 West.

After the Labor Day weekend, drivers should plan for new closures on two projects in Sandy and West Valley City.

The I-15 interchange at 10600 South is scheduled to close from Friday, Sept. 8, through Monday, Sept. 25. 10600 South will be closed in both directions over I-15, and nearly all of the on- and off-ramps at the interchange will be closed as well. Drivers will still be able to exit from southbound I-15 onto westbound 10600 South, and will be able to get from eastbound 10600 South onto southbound I-15 – but all other ramps will be closed.

During this closure, crews will be working to slide a new underpass into place that will connect the northbound I-15 off-ramp with Monroe Street, west of the mall.

In addition, on Tuesday night, Sept. 5, work is scheduled to begin on a repaving project on S.R. 201 between Redwood Road and Bangerter Highway. Drivers should expect lane restrictions in both directions during overnight hours and on weekends. This project will continue through fall.
