Man charged with DUI after wrong-way I-15 drive from Salt Lake City to Sandy

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 31, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A wrong-way driver who allegedly hit two Utah Highway Patrol cars early Saturday morning has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Reports came in at about 3:30 a.m. of a male driver heading south on northbound Interstate 15. The vehicle reportedly entered the interstate at 400 South and was finally boxed in by UHP troopers close to 11400 South.

According to reports, one trooper’s vehicle was hit in the Murray area and the other’s was hit during the PIT maneuver that ended the incident in Sandy, 17 miles south of where it began.

No one was injured. The driver’s name has not yet been released.
