WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, June 15, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway Patrol is still seeking the identity of a wrong-way driver who hit several vehicles on June 10 on Interstate 215 in West Valley City.

At approximately 11:54 that that night, Utah Highway Patrol Troopers were dispatched to I-215 West in the area of 4700 South on a report of a vehicle that was driving northbound in the southbound lanes and had damaged several vehicles.

When Troopers arrived, they found a Hyundai and a Nissan Pathfinder blocking the lanes at approximately 4500 South I-215 West. There was a black Dodge Ram pickup truck a short distance ahead of those vehicles. The Dodge truck was abandoned, there was no driver.

Witnesses said they did not really see a driver leave the scene. Drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana were found in the truck. The registered owner of the truck was contacted by the investigating Trooper a short time later at his residence.

The owner claimed he let a friend borrow the truck for an hour. At this time, the driver has not been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
