Update: Officials ID body found near Providence Canyon

CACHE COUNTY, Utah, April 17, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials have identified a body found by a hiker Sunday afternoon near Providence Canyon.

The Cache County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Tuesday afternoon the deceased is 18-year old Kyle Ryan Burton.

Burton, of Lovell, Wyoming, went missing while staying with family members in Cache County on Nov. 29 last year. He was last seen in the River Heights/Logan area.

The Sheriff’s Office issued the following statement:

“Our condolences go out to the Burton family and those that knew Kyle, with thanks to all those that were diligent in putting out posters and continued the search for Kyle.”

Cache County Police Lt. Brian Locke told Gephardt Daily that the body was found on a hillside north of the canyon.

The body was transported to the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner to be identified.

A Facebook page set up to help find Burton was updated Monday evening with the following:

“Thank you for all of your kind words and support. We cannot thank the locals from the Logan area enough, for the time, effort, and miles you put into helping us find him. We are beyond thankful for everyone involved in the searches, investigation and discovery.”

Officials have not yet released the specific cause of death.
