WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, May 30, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run auto-pedestrian incident in West Valley City in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Raoul Armondo Cabrera, 35, the West Valley City Police Department tweeted Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators on scene told Gephardt Daily police were called to 6750 W. South Frontage Rd. just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived they found an adult male, later identified as Cabrera, lying dead in the grass a few feet from the road.

Police initially thought the man was the victim of an assault, then realized there was evidence at the site consistent with a hit-and-run crash.

The victim’s body was taken to the State Coroner’s Office for further examination.

WVCPD said in the tweet that there are currently no suspects in this case. The department added the victim may have been hit by an Econoline van, which may have front passenger headlight damage.

Anyone who was in the area and saw anything or who has information about the incident is asked to call the WVCPD on 801-840-4000.
