HYDE PARK, Utah, Jan. 26, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 19-year-old woman from Logan was taken to an area hospital after a drone crashed into a wall and fell on her head at a party early Sunday morning, police said.

North Park Police Chief Kim Hawkes said the incident happened just after midnight at an event at Castle Manor Reception and Event Center in Hyde Park.

Hawkes said a man and his friend had brought a drone to the indoor event and wanted to fly it above the crowd to take a video. The room has a winding staircase that leads to a second floor balcony, and the man and his friend cleared the second floor, then flew the drone up.

However, when the man that was operating the drone tried to bring it down, Hawkes said, it crashed into a wall and fell on the head of a woman who was standing on the ground floor.

Hawkes says the woman was taken to Cache Valley Hospital by ground ambulance, but police were not given additional information regarding her condition.

He said the owner of the drone, an 18-year-old Ogden resident, and the pilot of the drone, a 21-year-old from Preston, Idaho, are not facing charges at this point.

Police have not identified the woman that was hit with the drone.

Hyde Park is 88 miles north of Salt Lake City.
