SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, June 24, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman is dead after an early morning rollover in South Jordan.

The South Jordan Police Department has identified the victim as Mikel Bristol Sorenson, 22, from South Jordan.

The accident happened shortly after 5 a.m. at 10900 South and Mountain View Highway. Bristol Sorenson was driving south in a 1997 Ford F 150.

“The vehicle left the roadway, and over-corrected to the right,” SJPD Sgt. Sam Winkler told Gephardt Daily. “Because the female was not wearing a seat belt, she was ejected and died instantly on scene.”

Winkler said investigators believe speed was a factor, and are also looking into whether the victim may have been distracted or impaired.

Investigators believe a seat belt would have saved Bristol Sorenson because with one, she would not have been ejected, Winkler said.

“Our advice is wear your seat belts and drive the appropriate speeds.”
