WOODS CROSS, Utah, March 10, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman was arrested early Friday morning after a police chase that stretched from Woods Cross to Salt Lake City.

According to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Nathan Powell, the incident began at approximately 1:50 a.m. when a trooper driving on city streets in Woods Cross noticed a vehicle driving erratically.

The trooper initiated a traffic stop, and the woman pulled into the parking lot of a hotel, then took off. The trooper followed the vehicle onto southbound Interstate 15 and pursued the vehicle five miles south, to the 2300 N. Warm Springs Road exit.

Powell said the woman then took that exit, where there is a sharp curve, and almost lost control. The trooper then threw down spike strips, which slowed the car. The trooper then initiated a pit maneuver to completely halt the vehicle.

The woman, who is in her late 20s or early 30s, was then taken into custody without further incident. A meth pipe and marijuana were found in the vehicle. There was a second woman in the vehicle, but Powell said the passenger will likely not be facing charges.
