SNOWBASIN, Utah, Jan. 21, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 23-year-old woman is in stable condition after being buried in an avalanche at Snowbasin Resort on Sunday afternoon.
The avalanche, which was human-triggered, likely due to the amount of new snow, happened in bounds in the No Name area of the resort at approximately 3:10 p.m., according to a news release from Snowbasin.
The woman was buried in the avalanche, and ski patrol members and nearby skiers dug her out.
She was airlifted to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden and is in stable condition.
The woman’s brother was also partially buried and was able to dig himself out; he was transported to the same hospital as his sister by ground ambulance.
That area is being patrolled to watch for further slides.
