Woman injured, 13 dogs killed in Orem house fire

OREM, Utah, Feb. 24, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman was critically injured and 13 dogs, including 11 puppies, were killed in an early morning house fire in Orem.

Firefighters were called to 905 W. 450 North about 2:20 a.m. Friday. When they arrived they found the back of the residence engulfed in flames.

Firefighters entered the burning structure and rescued a 37-year-old woman. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Thirteen dogs, most of them puppies, died in the blaze. Investigators say the family bred Yorkshire Terriers.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

It’s estimated to have caused $125,000 in damage.
