WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, April 2, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are looking for as many as five male suspects following a late-night carjacking Sunday in West Valley City.

The incident occurred in the area of 7000 W. Copper Hill Drive (3890 South) just after 11 p.m., West Valley City Police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku told Gephardt Daily, when the victim arrived at home in her red 2006 Pontiac G6.

“The victim was parked with the engine running for a short time when the victim advised that she was approached by four or five males who opened the doors to her car and got in,” Vainuku said. “The suspects were dressed in black with bandannas covering their faces. One of the suspects was armed with what the victim described as a black handgun.”

The armed suspect ordered the victim to get out of her car, and the victim complied. As the victim was backing away from the car, the same man demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim told him that it was already in the car. The suspects then drove away in her car.

Officers quickly responded to the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

The victim’s vehicle was listed with the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

Anyone who sees the vehicle or has further information about the case is asked to call the WVCPD on 801-840-4000.
