Aug. 18 (UPI) — A Milwaukee man who spent years cultivating a massive amount of Nintendo memorabilia sold his collection for $20,000.
The walls of Charles Amble’s game room are now empty after selling his impressive collection of more than 700 NES, SNES, and N64 games, World of Nintendo displays, toys and other memorabilia.
“Between the talk of having kids and moving to a house with no dedicated video game room, I’ve decided to sell my collection,” Amble, 30, said before the sale. “For the past 10 years I’ve spent weekends at garage sales and making Craigslist deals, and this is the result. I hope my collection goes to someone who enjoys it as much as I have.”
Amble originally listed the collection for about $30,000, but ultimately wound up handing it off to a cash buyer from Ohio who offered $20,000.
“You know man, its super sad. The past 10 years, it’s been a huge part of my life,” he told WISN.
While the majority of his collection has found a new home, Amble managed to hold onto a shoebox full of games he found after the sale and a Super Mario Brothers sign.
“I don’t know I just like the way it looked, I just always been a big fan of super Mario brothers,” He said.
Amble said his wife supported his collecting hobby and he plans to use the money from the sale to travel with her and possibly buy a boat.
“When she saw the amount of money I was asking for she didn’t have any problems with that,” Amble said.
