Nov. 13 (UPI) — The man accused of injuring nearly two dozen people in an acid attack on a London nightclub earlier this year was found guilty Monday.

British court found that Arthur Collins, the ex-boyfriend of reality star Ferne McCann, threw the corrosive liquid at nightclub goers on April 17.

Collins, 25, admitted to throwing the acid but argued he thought it was a date rape drug.

The court’s verdict came on the same day an accused accomplice, Andre Phoenix, was acquitted of the charges against him.

Phoenix, who was burned by the substance, was spotted on camera holding Collins’ arm as he sprayed the acid. Phoenix, though, told the court he stepped in to try and separate Collins from another man as they began to argue.

Collins told the court he’d been at the club to celebrate McCann’s pregnancy. After getting in a confrontation with several men, he sprayed liquid from the bottle over the crowd.

Sixteen of the injured were seriously burned, and one man received a third-degree chemical burn that required a skin graft. Some had eye injuries.

Collins will be sentenced on Dec. 19.
