At least two homes destroyed after four tornadoes touch down in central Illinois

LINCOLN, Ill., Sept. 10 (UPI) — Four confirmed tornadoes touched down, destroying at least two homes in central Illinois on Friday night.

According to the National Weather Service, tornadoes were confirmed near the areas of Sidney, Bismarck, Casey and Caitlin between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

“Staff members from the Lincoln NWS will be going over to Champaign and Vermilion counties on Saturday morning to conduct storm damage surveys,” the weather service said. “Tornado intensity values will be assigned after these surveys are complete.”

Champaign County Sheriff’s Office confirmed two homes and a corn storage structure were destroyed by one of the tornadoes, but no injuries were reported.
