Intruder with backpack arrested after scaling White House fence

March 11 (UPI) — An intruder carrying a backpack scaled the White House fence on Friday night while President Donald Trump was on the premises, officials said.

The intruder, who has not been identified, was spotted about 11:40 p.m., the Secret Service said. The backpack contained no hazards and no one was injured, officials said. The intruder was arrested.

Law enforcement searched the north and south grounds of the White House and found nothing suspicious, officials said. Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly was briefed on the incident.
