Nov. 13 (UPI) — Orbital ATK said Sunday’s Antares rocket launch was successful and its fourth International Space Station resupply mission is now underway.
The launch was slated for Saturday, but rescheduled after another aircraft flew into restricted airspace near NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.
The mission is to deliver 7,400 pounds of supplies, equipment and science experiments to the ISS.
“We have liftoff of #Antares carrying our S.S. Gene Cernan #Cygnus spacecraft to @Space_Station #OA8,” the company tweeted Sunday morning.
“Attitude is nominal as the stage 2 #Antares is in coast phase as it carries #Cygnus in to orbit,” read another post.
“We have payload separation! Go #Cygnus! #OA8,” an update said.
“The S.S. Gene Cernan #Cygnus is on its way to @Space_Station! #OA8,” read another tweet.
“Both solar arrays have deployed on @OrbitalATK’s #Cygnus cargo craft as it heads to rendezvous with @Space_Station on Tuesday morning,” NASA tweeted.
