Nov. 20 (UPI) — Police in Pennsylvania issued a warrant for the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a rookie officer on Friday.
Police officials identified 29-year-old Rahmael Sal Holt as the person who shot and killed Officer Brian Shaw.
Holt is to be considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call 911.
“I’m asking anybody with any information, as minute as they think it might be, please, please give us a call. We need to find the person who did this,” Police Chief Jim Klein said.
Shaw, 25, was pronounced dead at Allegheny Valley Hospital after he was shot in the midst of a foot chase when he pulled over an SUV on a road in New Kensington around 8 p.m. Friday.
Residents and multiple law enforcement agencies contributed funds to offer a $43,500 reward for information leading to Holt’s arrest.
Court documents indicate Holt lives in the Natrona Heights area of Harrison while a traffic citation from May indicates he lives in Braddock.
He had previously been jailed for drug and assault charges.
