Dec. 14 (UPI) — Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer filed a police report on Wednesday, alerting authorities of a false document accusing him of sexual harassment.

The document, which The New York Times said resembled a court filing, alleged Schumer sexually harassed a female former staff member on Capitol Hill, but Schumer’s spokesman, Matt House, said the document was forged and the allegations are false.

“We have turned it over to the Capitol Police, and asked them to investigate and pursue criminal charges, because it is clear the law has been broken,” House said. “We believe the individual responsible for forging the document should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law to prevent other malicious actors from doing the same.”

The former staffer listed as the plaintiff in the document told ABC News she never experienced any misconduct during her time on Schumer’s staff and with the Hill’s Office of Compliance.

“I have contacted law enforcement to determine who is responsible. I parted with Senator Schumer’s office on good terms and have nothing but the fondest memories of my time there,” she said.

In its review of the 13-page document, ABC News found unusual formatting and stylistic features and noted a heavy use of legalese, despite the document stating the plaintiff represented herself without a lawyer.
