Jan. 5 (UPI) — Top Republicans will meet with President Donald Trump at Camp David on Friday for a two-day discussion about the 2018 GOP agenda.

Congressional leaders will discuss the legislative agenda for the year and brief Trump on the midterm election landscape, which will determine whether Republicans can keep control of the House and Senate.

Weekend sessions will include presentations by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthyof California.

House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, House Majority Whip Steve Scaliseof Louisiana and Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn of Texas will also attend.

Discussions will likely include issues of importance the Trump administration mentioned in recent weeks — such as welfare reform, infrastructure funding and border security. Along with party challenges, the group is expected to talk about Senate recruitment opportunities.

Earlier this week, Trump met with North Dakota Rep. Kevin Cramer as part of an effort to recruit him to the state’s senate race. Other Senate seats that strategists are targeting are held by Democratic incumbents in Indiana and Missouri.
