June 17 (UPI) — Budget official Kathy Kraninger will be nominated by the Trump administration to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the White House announced Saturday.

Kraninger, associate director at the Office of Management and Budget, will continue the reforms initiated by Acting Director Mick Mulvaney and ensure consumers and markets are not harmed by fraud, White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters said in a statement.

Kraninger, who works on budget development for several agencies, previously worked for the Senate, the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Department.

If confirmed, she will replace Mulvaney, who has been filling the job temporarily

Walters said Kraninger “will bring a fresh perspective and much-needed management experience to the BCFP, which has been plagued by excessive spending, dysfunctional operations, and politicized agendas.”
