Nov. 29 (UPI) — President Donald Trump traveled to Missouri on Wednesday to sell the Republican plan to overhaul the U.S. tax code.

He is scheduled to speak at 2:30 p.m. CST at the St. Charles Convention Center.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported it’s expected Trump will single out Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., in his speech to vote in favor of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

On Tuesday, she and other Democrats said they could not support a tax bill that favors higher-income taxpayers.

“My message to Missourians is, ‘We can do this in a way that will help most of you,’ ” she said, but “not the way the Senate is proposing.”

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said it will be “challenging” to get the votes needed to pass the bill.

“Think of sitting there with a Rubik’s cube, trying to get to 50” votes, he said Tuesday.
