1 dead in 3-vehicle crash in Logan

LOGAN, Utah, April 17, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials were investigating a fatal crash involving three vehicles Monday night in the area of 400 South and 100 West.

According to a news release from the Logan Police Department, multiple calls were received around 9 p.m., reporting the collision and subsequent rollover of one of the vehicles.

Callers said several people had serious injuries.

When police arrived at the scene of the accident, witnesses said the occupants of a southbound truck had fled.

Police caught up with one of them a short while later, about a block away, and the person was “combative and uncooperative,” the news release states.

A male was located along 100 West at about 437 South, across the street from the accident site. Bystanders and police rendered aid until medical personnel arrived, but despite the life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead.

A male and two females were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Their condition was not known late Monday night.

Police said the extensive damage and large crash scene are still being investigated, and the cause of the collision is not yet known.

“Officers are attempting to identify all of the involved parties and locate one possible involved party who fled the scene,” the release says.

Police do not expect to release any other information until the investigation is complete.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information is made available.
