2 dead, 17 injured in Kentucky high school shooting

Jan. 23 (UPI) — Two students were shot dead Tuesday and 17 others were injured in a shooting at a Kentucky high school, authorities said.

Kentucky State Police said in a tweet just before 8 a.m. EST that the shooting occurred at the school in Benton, about 120 miles northwest of Nashville, Tenn.

The victims were a boy and girl, both 15. The extents of injuries to others was not immediately known. The suspected shooter, a 15-year-old boy, was in custody, officials said.

Tuesday’s shooting occurred one day after gunfire at a Texas high school that injured a 15-year-old girl.
