WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Sept. 9, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A Maverik convenience store was robbed late Friday night, and police are looking for the two youths, both armed, who made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

West Valley City Police Lt. Mike Fossmo told Gephardt Daily that two males entered the store, at 2675 S. 3200 West, just before midnight and demanded money from the clerk on duty.

From the description the clerk gave and a preliminary look at surveillance video, Fossmo said, it appears that the two are juveniles, possibly in their mid- to late-teens.

“One of the males was armed with a rifle of sorts, and the second male was armed with a knife,” Fossmo said.

The clerk complied with their demand, and the suspects fled from the store on foot. It isn’t known if they had a vehicle waiting nearby.

No one was injured in the incident.

Fossmo said police were called and arrived quickly. They established a containment area and searched with K9s, but were unable to find the suspects.

The robbery is under investigation, and police are now in the process of reviewing the surveillance video.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
