Fight ends with 2 men shooting each other in downtown Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 3, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating a shooting incident in which two men were wounded Sunday night in a public parking structure in downtown Salt Lake City.

Lt. Scott Smalley, of the Salt Lake City Police Department, told Gephardt Daily the two men were having some sort of altercation at about 9:30 p.m. in the parking garage at 222 S. Main St.

Both men were armed, and at some point, each pulled out his gun and shot at the other, Smalley said.

One man was shot in the foot, and the other was hit in the abdomen. No information was immediately available on their condition.

Smalley said several shots were fired. People in the area reported hearing five shots, but that number hasn’t been confirmed.

Detectives were arriving on scene to interview witnesses and begin their investigation.
