BOISE, Idaho, May 15, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — An AMBER Alert was issued for two missing Boise girls who were checked out of school on May 10 by their father.
Boise Police announced late Monday night that Jaylynn Dundon and Madison Dundon have been found in Eureka County, Nev.
“The girls are being taken to an Idaho hospital and are being treated for exposure. They are also being reunited with family,” the news release states.
Their father, Joshua Dundon, has been taken into custody.
The Boise Police Department thanked the Eureka County Sheriff’s Office and Nevada State Police “for their extraordinary effort to search the area and rescue the children.”
It was reported earlier that Madison Ann Dundon, 7 years and 8 months, and Jaylynn Dawn Dundon, 6 years and 5 months, were missing and considered endangered. They were taken out of school in Boise by their father, 29-year-old Joshua Bradley Dundon, who told witnesses he was taking the girls camping near Arrow Rock Reservoir in Idaho.
Dundon’s truck was next seen on May 11, when it was found burned in Eureka County, Nev. Due to the condition of the truck, it was not identified as belonging to Dundon until May 15.
On May 11, witnesses saw a male walk from the scene of the truck and observed as the male spoke to a female who was not visible, but could be heard by the witnesses. The male walked away from the scene of the truck.
The Eureka County Sheriff’s Office found several different shoe prints leaving the scene, which was in a very remote area. Bullet casings were found near the truck, and investigators say it was set on fire intentionally.
Dundon is known to have firearms, and has made suicidal statements in the past. He also has used illicit drugs, according to the Boise Police Department.
