LONDON, March 31, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Nine days after the London terrorist attack that killed Bountiful resident Kurt Cochran and seriously injured Melissa, his wife of 25 years, Melissa’s family has posted a photo of the progress she is making toward healing.

“Getting stronger every day!,” says a caption on a GoFundMe page established by her brother, Clint Payne.

The photo shows the first shared image of Melissa Cochran standing, with crutches, her left leg fitted with a complex metal frame to keep the bones stable.

Kurt Cochran was struck and killed on March 22 by the terrorist’s speeding SUV while crossing the Westminster Bridge. Melissa survived with a broken leg and rib, and a cut to her head.

The Cochrans were on the last day of a European trip to celebrate their wedding anniversary and to visit Melissa’s parents, who are serving a LDS Temple mission in London for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The SUV was driven by 52-year-old Khalid Masood, born Adrian Russell Ajao, who was shot dead by police. His attack initially killed three and injured dozens of others, one of whom has since died.

The Bountiful memorial concert will be live-streamed to London so Melissa Cochran can see the support from the local arts community. Her husband owned a music studio, and had contributed his expertise to Bountiful’s SummerFest and to local school productions.
