SANDY, Utah, Jan. 16, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Highway Patrol had a busy Tuesday responding to accidents in Salt Lake County.

UHP spokesman Sgt. Todd Royce told Gephardt Daily none of the crashes resulted in life-threatening injuries, but a driver did have to be extricated from his car after it rolled on Interstate 15.

The rollover happened at about 6:30 p.m. at 9400 South on northbound I-15.

Royce said the driver, a man in his 60s, was coming up on the scene of an earlier accident and failed to slow down enough to stop.

“He jerked the wheel to the right and rolled end over end,” Royce said. “He had to be cut out of the vehicle.”

Royce said the man was bleeding above his eye and was taken to the hospital, but his injury wasn’t considered life-threatening. The man was wearing his seat belt, which probably prevented a more serious injury.

The freeway was closed while debris from the first accident and the secondary rollover was cleared.
